PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION
The University Parent Teacher Association which exists to promote education and welfare of our children is VERY ACTIVE. They have been recognized by the District, State, and National affiliates for their many achievements. Two of our past presidents-Dolores Gulledge Hackler and Carol Fullilove-both have also served as the District President and the State President. Parents are encouraged to join and participate in the activities of our PTA. Parents are a vital part of the success of our school. The PTA welcomes YOU and any ideas you might have! The University PTA continues to provide the school with items such as: computers, computer software, Alpha Smarts, digital camera, file cabinets, instructional materials, covered walkways, copy machine, laminating machine and supplies, book binding machine and supplies, letter cutting machines and dies, extra materials for P.E. and Music, etc. They have contributed so much to help with the educational and personal welfare of the students.
Some of the many activities of our PTA are: * resurfaced the track * provide teacher grants to purchase much needed items for the classroom. For 2002-2003 almost $20,000 will be spent. * a student directory listing all faculty members and students * a quarterly newsletter * selling school sweatshirts, jackets, and t-shirts * promote dining at certain restaurants on certain nights when that restaurant will give a percentage of their revenues to the school. Current participant is Johnny’s Pizza & Monjuni’s * participate in Labels for Education where proofs of purchase from certain products are collected and PTA receives funds * sponsor My Louisiana essay contest * sponsor Directory Cover contest * sponsor Fall Fundraiser and Fall Carnival each year * sponsor Penny Power Week * sponsor Spaghetti Supper/Talent Show * sponsor Teacher Appreciation Week * sponsor the Yearbook * sponsor food booths at the annual Field Day * sponsor Kindergarten graduation and Fifth Grade Recognition |

OTHER SPONSORS AND ADOPTERS
Several local businesses and individuals aid our school in educating our students by donating needed materials and supplies, donating money for instructional materials and supplies, and/or donating awards, etc. Their donations also enable University to recognize achievements of students in a way we would not be able to do otherwise.

Hello Wildcats!
Can you believe that Spring is just around the corner?!? Our PTA WFC Candy Sale is going on right now. All proceeds will be used for Teacher Grants and Teacher Appreciation week, so make sure to buy plenty of chocolate! Also, it is not too late to purchase yearbooks. We will have a special Yearbook signing day this year, so don't miss out. We have many other upcoming events, LEAP and IOWA testing, Spring Break, Talent Show, PTA Rummage Sale, Teacher Appreciation Week, Field Day, and 5th Grade Luncheon, just to name a few. WOW, UES is one awesome school! Make sure to check the School Calender and the Tuesday Tidbits for dates and times.
