PROMOTION AND RETENTION

Retaining a student is a last option and must be determined case by case. Pupils must pass

reading, math, language arts and either science or social studies.  Students not attending school a minimum of 160 days are subject to retention.  In addition to academic requirements fourth grade students must meet established mastery performance levels on the Language Arts and Math

sections of the LEAP in order to be promoted.  The School Building Screening Committee will look at individual students and assess their needs and make the final decision on retention and

Promotion.
