The lady on the right is Tammie Stutts, your fellow porcher that
talked me into showing up to help with the seventh annual,"Progressive Farmer Farm Safety Day." (I'm not sure
I was much help. *grin*) Tammi is the Safety Person for the West Carroll Parish Farm Bureau
and one of the co-ordinaters of this important event. To her left is the 2003 West Carroll Parish Farm Bureau Queen,
Ashley Townsend, daughter of Gary and Renee Townsend. (Tammie said to make sure I tell you that
it's not that Ashley is that short--it's just that Tammie is that tall!)
This is the "Truck and Tractor" safety station and those guys are Ed McGee and Kevin Flatman preparing to give a dramatic portrayal of what happens when
you aren't paying attention around farm equipment.
Each class was instructed to make their own dummy in preparation for safety day. They got
to name them, too. This is Mrs. Kim Henderson's fifth grade class from Forrest watching
their dummy get too close. His name? I'm so glad you asked--they named him "Sadaam". *grin*
Good riddance, Sadaam! The kids and I had to cheer here, even as the important
lesson of safety was driven home.

A volunteer in full blood and gore makeup is a great visual for the kids. I understand
this lady was accidentally "shot" in the leg with an arrow by her husband who
was practicing his archery. She knows not to get to close now!

Mr. Gary Miers from the Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo teaches the
kids about snakes. The only lesson I need to know is -- stay clear of 'em.
