Ruston, LA - Services for Mildred Young Henderson, 86, of Ruston was at 1 p.m. Wednesday December 3, 1997 at Edmonds Funeral Home with Rev. Matthew DeBord officiating. Burial was in Ansley Cemetery in Ansley, LA.

Mrs. Young died Tuesday, December 2, 1997 at Lincoln General Hospital. Mrs. Henderson was born in Ansley, La, and graduated from Ansley High School and La. Tech University. She was the Director of the Jackson Parish Public Welfare Office for over forty years. She was an original member of the Board of Directors of the Jonesboro Housing Authority. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jonesboro. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Otis Andrew Henderson.

Survivors include her son: Robert Henderson and wife Carole of Lake Charles; daughter: Nelda Neal and husband, Dr. Larry Neal of Ruston; brother: John Young of Baton Rouge, ; six grandchildren: Susan Ewing and husband, Brandon of Ruston, Emily Adams and husband Josey of Ruston, Rebecca Neal of Ruston, Jon Henderson of Lake Charles, Stuart Henderson of Lake Charles, Mary Kate Henderson of Lake Charles; three step-grandchildren: Emily Neal of Dallas, Paul Neal of Normal, OK, Anna Neal of Shreveport, and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Brandon Ewing, Jody Adams, Jon Henderson, Stuart Henderson, Mike Smith and Sandy Tillman.
