Memorial services for L. Walker Boggs, 82, prominent Monroe businessman
who died Monday December 1, 1997 on his 82nd birthday, were held at 3 p.m.
Tuesday at the Pine Grove Church, Loop Road, Monroe with Revs. Kevin Finley
and Dale Walker officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado
Springs, Colorado with full Masonic services at the grave.
A native of Pemberton, Virginia he had been a resident of Monroe since 1960.
He was retired owner operator of the J. O. "Red" Willett Pipeling
Stringing Corp. He attended Colorado College and was the chief dispatcher
of Colorado Interstate Gas Co.
He was a veteran of WWII serving as a Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy Air
Corps and was the second person in U. S.history to receive a naval instrument
rating. He owned the Spann Flying Service in Colorado Springs and was the
former president of the Lone Star Air Cargo Co, Dallas, TX. He served a
president of the Mobil Consigning Corp. in Farmington, NM. He served as
president of Bayou DeSiard Country Club in 1965. He was a member of Pine
Grove Church. He was a member of El Paso Masonic Lodge #13, Colorado Springs.
He was a 33rd degree mason and a member of the Scottish Rite, Sante Fe,
NM. He served as consultant to Ford Bacon and Davis, pipeline section and
was project manager for the pipeline division of Sedcoest internation, Rio
De Janeiro, Brazil.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Elizabeth Boggs, Monroe; his daughters,
Evelyn Crittenden, Rosewell, NM; Judith Ann Behney and her husband Dr. Charles
A Behney, Bisbee, AZ; Susan Karon Leiker and her husband Mark of Colorado
Springs; his son, Drexell Walker Boggs, and wife Caroline, Rayville; his
grandchildren, Jennifer Jenkins Bilbrey, and her husband Nathan, Lubbock,
TX; Eugene Walker Jenkins, Amarillo, TX; Hunter Boggs, Walker Boggs, and
Thomas Boggs, Rayville; 1 brother, Parker Boggs, Rapid City, South Dakota.
