
Services for the Reverend George Anthony Detor, 70, of West Monroe, LA will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 7, 1998 a t the St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Monroe, LA with the Right Reverend Willis Henton, The Reverend Walter Baer, and The Reverend Lee Kneipp officiating. Burial will be in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe, LA.
Father Detor died August, 1998 at the Glenwood Regional Medical Center.
Father Detor was a graduate of Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York and the Seabury-Western Seminary in Evanston, Illinois. He served as an Episcopal Priest in New York, Texas, California, and Louisiana. He was retired from St. Patrick's Episcopal Church in West Monroe and was serving as assistant pastor oat St. Thomas Episcopal Church. Father Detor served as a member of the Secretariat of the House of Deputies for 12 General Conventions of the Episcopal Church. He was a past president of the West Monroe Rotary Club, Worthy Patron of the Dixie chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. He was Worshipful Master of the Dee A. Strickland Masonic Lodge #465, a past president of the Harry M. Lemert High Twelve Club, member of the Monroe Scottish Rites, Monroe Commandery No. 7 Knights of Templar, the Barak Shrine Temple, where he served as Chaplain and the Crossroads Masonic Lodge in Syracuse, New York. He was an avid football fan of the Syracuse Orangeman and the West Monroe High School Rebels.
Survivors include: wife; Mrs. Phoebe Miller Detor of West Monroe, LA; son: George Anthony Detor, II and his wife, Krista of Marathon, Florida; daughter: Laura Detor Feazel of West Monroe, LA. grandchildren: Aurora Kyle Detor, and Patricia Elizabeth Feazel.
Pallbearers will be John D. Miller, Christopher Miller, Dusty Miller, Kevin Gibson, David Arnold and George Brown.
Honorary pallbearers will be William Feazel, Christopher Simms and members of the Harry M. Lemert High Twelve Club.
Visitation will be held from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. Thursday at the St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 3706 Bon Aire Drive, Monroe, LA.
Memorials may be made to the St. Thomas Episcopal Church Fund, the St. Patrick's Episcopal Building Fund or the charity of your choice.
