Services for Ervin "Peck" Sumner, 87, of Delhi, will be at 2 p.m.
Friday, November 7, 1997 at Cox chapel in Delhi with Rev. Marcus Murphy
and Rev. Bill Walworth officiating. Burial will be in Restland Memorial
Park Cemetery.
Mr. Sumner was married to Emma McIlveene for 68 years. He was a resident
of Delhi for 49 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He
worked for Exxon and Ashland Oil Companies as an oil field gauger until
his retirement in 1973. He was an avid hunter and fisherman after his retirement.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Delhi.
Survivors include his wife: Emma Sumner of Delhi; one daughter and son-in-law:
Betty and David McQueen of Bossier City; one son and daughter-in-law: W.B.
"Bug" and Betty Sumner, of Delhi; one daughter-in-law, Mary Sumner
of Emmerson, Arkansas and Gary Sumner of New Jersey; sever grandchildren;
and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son: Larry
Sumner.
Pallbearers will be Terry Sumner, Lavalle Spillers, Ken Phillips, Dalton
Dendy, Bob Herrera, and Steve Downey. Honorary Pallbearers are Earl Allen
and Red Netherland.
