Services for Mr. Alva Cled Miller, 76, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 20, 1998 at Farmerville Church of Christ with Bill Denton and Larry White officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Hill Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville.
Mr. Miller died Monday, August 17, 1998 at Lincoln General Hospital following a brief illness.
Mr. Miller was a native of Farmerville. He was a Naval Veteran of World War II and had retired from the Louisiana State University Experiment Station at Calhoun where he was a research horticulturist. He was a member of Farmerville Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alva M. Miller and Grover Sharrock Miller and one sister Norell Miller.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years; Dorothy Winstead Miller; son: Gerald "Jerry" A. Miller and wife, Debbie of West Monroe, LA; daughter: Laura Beavers and husband, Sam of Sparta, TN; two brothers: Clint Miller of Ruston, LA and Milton Miller of Amarillo, TX; six grandchildren: Al, Miranda, and Michelle Miller of West Monroe; Matthew, Julie, and Nathan Beavers of Sparta, TN.
Pallbearers will be Jim Fuller, George Miller, Johnny McFarland, R. L. Roller, Bill Humble, Rupert Sausage, Coy Booth, and Joe Preaus.
Family will receive friends from 5 until 9 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, 1998 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Spanish Missions at the Farmerville Church of Christ.
