Robert was born in Fayetteville, AR, where his parents were attending graduate school, on August 15, 1959, and passed away at home in Monroe, LA, on Thursday, August 31, after a lengthy illness. Robert was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Ernest T. and Johnnie B. Cutrer of Robeline, LA, and his paternal grandparents Neal E. Harrison of Hazlehurst, GA and Nina L Whelchel of Pensacola, FL. He is survived by his parents, Dr. Robert E. and Sarah C. Harrison of Monroe, LA; and uncle and aunt Bill and Louise Harrison of Blakely, GA; and cousin Ginny Logan of Fort Lauderdale, FL. Robert was a 1977 graduate of St. Frederick High School and earned a B.B.A. in Marketing from Northeast Louisiana University in 1983. He was on disability leave from United Services Automobile Association (USAA) of San Antonio, TX, where he was employed in the Marketing Department of the Banking Division. The family sends special thanks to Dr. Karen Beene for her care during the last few years of Robert's life. No one could have been more dedicated and loving. Sitters Francis Holmes, Linda Huber, and Kechia Jeffries are also thanked for their extraordinary efforts during the last stages of Robert's illness. Mr. Tasson was born on December 3, 1922 in Ishpeming, MI and passed away on August 31, 2006. Mr. Tasson retired as Sergeant Major with the United States Army after 26 years of service. He was a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division. He served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. Mr. Tasson was the recipient of a Purple Heart, Bronze Star, two Commendation Medals, and the Legion of Merit. After military service he moved to Monroe where he became a vocational instructor at the Louisiana Training Institute for boys until his retirement. Survivors include his wife of sixty four years, Jessie Tasson; daughter, Linda Zagone both of Monroe, LA; brother, Vincent Tasson of Ishpeming, MI; two granddaughters, Daphne Zagone McGuire and husband Pat McGuire; and Kim Zagone Stroud all of Monroe, LA; five great grandchildren, Patrick McGuire, Mary Katherine McGuire, Lindsay Stroud, Caroline Stroud, and Claire Stroud all of Monroe, LA. Mrs. Taylor was a member of the Downsville Methodist Church. Mrs. Taylor graduated from Downsville High School and Louisiana Tech University. Mrs. Taylor taught Home Economics for over thirty years at her beloved Downsville High School, retiring in 1996. Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her husband, Robert V. "Piddle" Taylor; parents Wattie H. and Mattie Wilson; and sister Ila V. Lindsey. She is survived by her sons, Robert V. DAVID EUGENE WATSON, SR. Monroe, LA David Eugene Watson, Sr. died at home in Monroe on Wednesday, August 30, 2006. He was at home and with his family at the time of his death. Mr. Watson was born on March 2, 1932 in Ponchatoula, Louisiana. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, and later with the Louisiana Army National Guard. He was a retired science teacher and school administrator, and was the former Deputy Director of the Ouachita Civil Defense Agency. Mr. Watson was a man of many interests; he was a gifted photographer and was active in the North Louisiana Camera Club. Additionally, Mr. Watson was an astronomer and an amateur (Ham) radio operator who was known throughout the world by his call letters, WA5MWH. He was member of the First United Methodist Church in Monroe, LA where he was an active member of the Aldersgate Sunday School class. Mr. Watson was also a member of the Downtown Monroe Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his parents Tom and Irma Tillery Watson and his first wife Marie Pierron Watson. He is survived by his wife, Ann Johnson Watson of Monroe, LA; son David Watson, Jr and wife Linda of Weatherford, TX; daughter Anne Davis and husband Greg of Plano, TX; stepdaughter Ellen James and husband Rick of Coppell, TX; and stepdaughter Janet Leap and husband Gabe of Boulder, CO. Brother Tom Watson and wife Shirley; sister Catherine Pritchard and brother William Watson and wife Dorothy. Mr. Watson loved his five grandchildren: John David Watson, Abbey Marie Watson, Joshua Richard James, Sara Elizabeth James and Rachel Elizabeth Davis. A memorial service will be held at 10:00am, Saturday September 2, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church, 3900 Loop Road, Monroe. The service will be officiated by the Rev. Terry Love and the Rev. KIRBY JACKSON WILEY Hester's Central State Funeral Home Monroe, LA Kirby Jackson Wiley was born April 7, 1947 to the late Claymon and Ashia Jackson Wiley in Columbia, LA. He departed this life on August 29, 2006 at the age of 59 years. He was baptized at an early age at St. Paul Baptist Church. Kirby J. graduated from Union Central High School and attended Grambling State University. He served in the United States Army and performed four tours of duty in Vietnam with the Americal Division. His parents, Claymon and Ashia Wiley, one sister, Claymon Sue Wiley, and one grandchild preceded him in death. Kirby J. leaves to cherish his memory: one daughter, Treassey Wiley of Oakland, CA; two sisters, Aldina Wiley Smith of Inglewood, CA and Alzina Wiley Pierson of Baton Rouge, LA; a very, very devoted and caring cousin, Henry T. Dr. Joe Boyd Williams was born at home April 13, 1923, the youngest of eight children of Alex Norwood and Mary Emma Davenport Williams, a pioneer family of Mer Rouge, LA. He died August 31, 2006 at his home in Mer Rouge, LA. He was a graduate of Mer Rouge High School Class of 1940. He had an appointment to West Point but instead enrolled at LSU to study Aeronautical Engineering until enlisting in the U.S. Army in September of 1943. He served in the 5th Army 88th Division Artillery as a 2nd Lieutenant during World War II and advanced to rank of Captain. He was awarded the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Campaign medal, European, African, and Middle Eastern Campaigns with two battle stars, World War II Victory medal, Distinguished Unit badge, and Army of Occupation medal. Upon completing his military service in 1947, he returned to LSU pursuing a degree in pre-med. While at LSU he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order and Phi Beta Kappa. He started medical school in 1949 at LSU in New Orleans, LA and graduated in 1953. He served his internship year at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, LA. While in New Orleans, he married Bobbie Glenn Youngs in 1953. He then served a year of general practice residency at Huey P. Long Hospital in Pineville, LA. He returned to Mer Rouge, LA in 1955 to join his brother, Dr. Guy Davenport Williams, in general practice. He had hospital privilages at the Garnier Clinic and Morehouse General Hospital. Dr. Williams was one of the last of the old time general practitioners who made house calls and received patients at his home as well as his office in Mer Rouge. He maintained an obstetrics practice until 1988 and provided medical direction for the Oak Woods Home for the Elderly from its opening in 1965 until his retirement. Dr. Williams served on the Morehouse Parish School Board from 1970 until 1982. He was president of the school board during his second term. He was a member of the Vestry at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Mer Rouge. Dr. Williams served as Chief of Staff at Morehouse General Hospital for many years. He retired from hospital practice in 2004 and from office practice in 2006. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alex Norwood Williams and Mary Emma Davenport Williams; brothers, Dr. Guy Davenport Williams and Colonel A.N. Robert was born in Fayetteville, AR, where his parents were attending graduate school, on August 15, 1959, and passed away at home in Monroe on Thursday, August 31, after a lengthy illness. Robert was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Ernest T. and Johnnie B. Cutrer of Robeline, LA; and his paternal grandparents Neal E. Harrison of Hazlehurst, GA, and Nina L Whelchel of Pensacola, FL. He is survived by his parents, Dr. Robert E. and Sarah C. He was on disability leave from United Services Automobile Association (USAA) of San Antonio, TX, where he was employed in the Marketing Department of the Banking Division. Mrs. Reid lived in Kansas City, MO after her marriage to Thomas Sutherland Reid on August 30, 1947. They were both associated with the Lynn Insurance and Financial Holdings. They later retired to Atlantis, FL. Mrs. Reid was the daughter of the late Robert Hearsey and Susie Hill Lynn of Archibald, LA and the granddaughter of Jesse William and Salethia Archibald Lynn, whose parents were among the founders of Archibald, LA. She was also the granddaughter of Sarah Ida "Sallie" Hill of Richland Parish and the late Tom Hill. In her youth, Mrs. Reid was a member of the Archibald Presbyterian Church. She attended school in Archibald and was graduated from Mangham High School. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, descended from Josiah Burton Archibald, an early pioneer in Richland Parish. Mrs. Reid was an avid golfer and belonged to the Atlantis Golf Club in Florida. Mrs. Reid was predeceased by her husband, Thomas S. Reid; a daughter, Frances Adamson; a brother, R.H. Lynn, Jr., of Archibald, LA; and three sisters, Kate Lynn Preston of Shreveport, LA; Jessie Lynn Bell of Vicksburg, MS and Earline Lynn Brown of Lantana, FL. Mr. Bolding graduated Valedictorian of Oak Grove High School Class of 1941. He served as a Naval Aviator with unit VPB-21 during World War II, achieving the rank of Lieutenant, J.D. During this service, he flew 114 missions within the Pacific Theater of Operations, for which he was awarded four Distinguished Flying Crosses and two Oak Leaf Clusters. After the war, he married and moved to New Orleans, LA, where he attended Tulane University. He graduated in 1951, earning a degree in Law, and admission to Phi Beta Kappa. He became a member of the American and Louisiana Bar Associations, and went on to establish a distinguished career in Petroleum Land Management for over 50 years. Mr. Bolding is preceded in death by his grandson, James Warren Vinson; father, Enoch Wilburn Bolding; and his mother, Lola Arnold Bolding. JAMES "CHUCK" SCHIRO Greenwood Funeral Home New Orleans, LA Services for James "Chuck" Schiro, 84, of Chalmette, LA will be held at Greenwood Funeral Home on Canal Street in New Orleans, LA, on Monday, September 11, 2006 at 1:00PM. James Schiro was born April 16, 1922 in New Orleans to parents Ciro and Catherine Geraci Schiro. He lived his entire life in the New Orleans area until Hurricane Katrina devastated his home and community, sending him and his wife, Margaret, to Monroe, LA, to live near their family there. He died on September 8, 2006 at St. Francis Medical Center. Mr. Schiro was a veteran of the U.S. Marines Corps having served in World War II. He was affectionately known as "Daddy" to his children, "Paw Paw" to his grandchildren and great-granchildren, and "Chuck" to his friends. He had tremendous pride for his family and shared a great love with them. His love of his family, good friends, and good food led him through a great life. Though he left an everlasting impression on our lives, his love and laughter will be dearly missed. Mr. Schiro was preceded in death by his parents, and his son, James Albert Schiro. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Margaret Farley Schiro; sons, Patrick Schiro and wife Debbie of Violet, LA, Mark Schiro and wife Brenda of Poydras, LA, Gary Schiro and wife Alexies of Chalmette, LA; daughters, Pam Posey and husband John of Monroe, LA, Paula Johnson and husband Sonny of Hope, AR, Marlene Hilkirk of Monroe, LA, Linda Schiro of New Orleans, LA, Karen Klaus and husband Joe of Metarie, LA; sister, Frances Guess and husband Billy of New Orleans, LA; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. OPAL LOYCE BAKER SIMMONS Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe, LA Opal Loyce Baker Simmons, 82, retired bookkeeper and homemaker, passed away at home September 8, 2006 following a brief battle with cancer. Mrs. Simmons was born in the Hurricane Community near Arcadia, LA, in Claiborne Parish February 15, 1924, and resided in Calhoun, LA for the past 23 years. Services will be held at 2:00PM on Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel, 1321 North 7th Street, West Monroe, LA, with Reverend Hershel Clanton officiating. Burial will follow in Vienna Cemetery, Ruston, LA. Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Carson Baker, and Edna Eleanor James Baker; her beloved husband of more than 50 years, James "Jimmy" Marion Simmons; two brothers, Clayton Morris Baker and Alvie Winifred Baker; and a sister, Audie Loraine Baker Martindale. Mrs. Simmons was a graduate of Farmerville High School, and Monroe Commercial Business School. She was a secretary at Selman Field during World War II, and retired as a bookkeeper at H. Mickel Dry Goods. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother. She also was an excellent cook, seamstress and was loved by all who knew her. Mrs. Simmons is survived by two sons; James Marion Simmons II, and wife Jimelle, of Clinton, MS, and Charles Sterling Simmons, MD, and wife Rhonda, of Dubach, LA; two grandchildren, Whitt Simmons and Christy Simmons, both of Clinton, MS; two sisters, Otta E. Baker Gilbert of West Monroe, LA and Billie L. Baker Hassion of Boyce, LA; two brothers-in-law, Elmo Lee Simmons and wife Ruth, of Bastrop, LA, and Graves Willis Simmons, and wife Cecelia of Wellington, FL; and a sister-in-law, Emma Lee Baker; a host of cousins, nieces and nephews; and two very dear and special friends, James E. and Carolyn Sanders of Calhoun, LA. DEWEY WAYNE FAULKENBURY Cox Funeral Home, Bastrop, LA. Graveside services for Mr. Dewey Wayne Faulkenbury will be 10 A.M. Monday, September 11, 2006 at Memorial Park Cemetery of Bastrop with Rev. Louis Couch officiating. Visitation with the family was held Sunday evening from 6 P.M. till 9 P. M. at Cox Funeral Home, Bastrop. Mr. Faulkenbury was born March 3, 1942 in Mer Rouge and he died Saturday, September 9, 2006 at Morehouse General Hospital in Bastrop. He was preceded in death by his father, Dewey Clifton Faulkenbury and brother, Walter Clifton Faulkenbury. Dewey Faulkenbury was a lifelong resident of Morehouse Parish. He was a member of the Cherry Ridge Baptist Church. He was also a graduate of the Mer Rouge High School Class of 1960. Early on, Dewey was employed with Commercial Security and later he joined his father and brother in the operation of two retail grocery and market stores in Mer Rouge. He was currently employed by Parker Wholesale Paper Company of Bastrop. Mr. Faulkenbury is survived by his wife Betty and son Keith of Bastrop, mother, Mary Katherine Faulkenbury of Mer Rouge, sister, Marilyn Johnson and husband Gerald of Germantown, Tennessee, an aunt Meredith Cox of Marietta, Georgia, three nephews, Jesse Faulkenbury and Vince Faulkenbury both of Bastrop, Darren Johnson of Germantown, Tennessee, two nieces, Jana Cannon of Bastrop and Gerilyn Johnson of Germantown, Tennessee. Serving as pallbearers are Jesse Faulkenbury, Vince Faulkenbury, Darren Johnson, Denny Cannon, and Herbert Evans. Honorary pallbearers are Alex Rankin, Harold Edwards, Guy Parker, Owen Butler, James King and William Hayden The outpouring of love and condolences from his many friends has been a great comfort to the family. His good sense of humor and his genuine love of people will be surely missed.
