IN LOVING MEMORY James Michael McDonald June 2, 1971 -March 1, 2007 When I'm Gone When I come to the end of my journey And I travel my last weary mile Just forget if you can, that I ever frowned And remember only the smile. Forget unkind words I have spoken; Remember some good I have done. Forget that I ever had heartache And remember I've had loads of fun. Forget that I've stumbled and blundered And sometimes fell by the way. Remember I have fought some hard battles And won, ere the close of the day. Then forget to grieve for my going, I would not have you sad for a day. But in the summer just gather some flowers And remember the place where I lay, And come in the shade of evening When the sun paints the sky in the west. Stand for a few moments beside me And remember only my best. We love you. You were a special son, brother, dad and friend. God had you to prepare us with poems, songs "When I get to where I am going" and promises Things Said" You were longing to see heaven and see your Papa. We miss you and you will never be forgotten. Family and Friends

Lloyd Edgar Lenard (Another Member of The Greatest Generation) ROSE-NEATH,MARSHALL ST., Shreveport, LA Services honoring the life of Lloyd Edgar Lenard will be held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, June 13, 2008, at Rose-Neath Marshall Street Chapel. Officiating will be Dr. Larry Williams assisted by Dr. Scott Tatum. Interment will follow in Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Avenue. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. Friday morning until service time at the funeral home. Lloyd was born July 29, 1922 in West Monroe, LA and passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2008 in Shreveport. He was a graduate of Ouachita Parish High School. Lloyd attended Northeast Community College and later became a "LSU Tiger" where he received a degree in Journalism. He furthered his education at the University of Missouri where he received his Masters Degree in Advertising-Merchandising. It was while he was a student at the University of Missouri, he met Betty-Jo Sawyer of Framingham, MA. She was attending Stephens College. On their first date he gave her the nickname of "Sky". They were married December 23, 1947 in Massachusetts during the worst blizzard in 50 years. The blizzard only enhanced the marriage of two people very much in love. Lloyd served his country proudly as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy. He was a World War II veteran serving in Amphibious Forces in the Mediterranean Theatre. His graduate thesis was about Neiman Marcus and its influence on the Southwest. Mr. Marcus was very impressed and placed Lloyd in their Executive Training Course (lots of prestige, but not much money!). So, Lloyd and Sky moved to Monroe in 1948 to be near his family. He worked at KNOE Radio as the Advertising Manager. While in Monroe, he was very active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Jaycees (Junior Chamber of Commerce); and also in the Republican Party. He used to fly around Louisiana with Charlton "Papa" Lyons who helped establish the Republican Party in Louisiana. Lloyd would interview him for the newspapers and radio. Lloyd joined Aetna Life Insurance Company and was moved to Shreveport to be Assistant General Agent and later became General Agent for Pan American Life. He had the responsibility of hiring and training some of the finest men who became some of the best in the industry. Lloyd also worked as a Recruiter and Trainer for Lincoln National Life. In Shreveport, he became more active in the Republican Party and served on the Republican State Central Committee for several years. Lloyd also served three terms as a Caddo Parish Commissioner. Because of his love of teaching, he taught some evening courses in Finance and Insurance at LSU-S. Lloyd helped to establish East Ridge Country Club where he enjoyed "playing at golf". Not being a good golfer frustrated Lloyd. So, he and Sky enjoyed the dance club at East Ridge. Lloyd and Sky enjoyed traveling and felt blessed to be able to travel in the USA and in several countries. When Lloyd retired, he returned to his "first love", writing. He has had several books published, "The Last Confederate Flag", "Miracle on the Thirteenth Hole", "Papa Left Us-But Mama Pulled Us Through", "The Moon's Cold Light (series of short stories) and "The Last Goodbye". Lloyd was a faithful member of Broadmoor Baptist Church for more than 50 years where he was a member of the Berean Sunday School Class. He was a member of Shreveport Kiwanis Club, Caddo Parish Republicans, Sons of The Confederacy and on the Board of The Shreveport Symphony. His parents, James and Doshie Lenard, and siblings, Esther, Ela, Reecie, Eva, J.E. and Carl, preceded Lloyd in death. Left to cherish beautiful memories are his wife of 60 years, Betty-Jo "Sky" Sawyer Lenard of Shreveport, LA; children, Carla Dawn Frye and husband, Hollis of Longview, TX, Brian Drury Lenard of Hammond, LA and Lloyd &q
