Monroe, LA Funeral service for Mrs. Hazel Irene Hammontree Bonner, 82, of Monroe, LA, formerly of Sterlington will be held at 2:00PM Wednesday May 2, 2007, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe with Rev. Jamie Bonner officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Bonner was born on April 7, 1925, and passed away peacefully on April 30, 2007, following a lengthy illness. She was a member of Riverside Baptist Church in Bastrop, LA; and was the co-owner operator of Bonner Truck Stop for many years. Mrs. Bonner was preceded in death by her parents, Gracie McVay Hammontree of Newton, MS, and Brief Hammontree of Arkansas; W. E. "Pete" Bonner, Husband of forty-nine years; son, Thomas Wyly Bonner; and sister, Jimmy Sue Hale Bienz. Survivors include her son, W. E. "Junior" Bonner and wife Cindy of Monroe, LA; sister, Noahlene Jones and husband Bob of Bossier City, LA; brother, Sammy Hammontree and wife Shelia of Marshall, TX; four grandchildren, Lisa Bonner Toney and husband Patrick "Bo" of Monroe, LA; Thomas Wyly "Ladd" Bonner and wife Christie of Gulfport, MS; Brandi Bonner Sanders and husband Brandon of Monroe, LA; and Bethany Bonner Trichel and husband Vance of Monroe, LA; six great grandchildren, Tara Taylor, Erin Taylor, Bailey Toney, Jerard Toney, Hannah Bonner and Abby Bonner; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Walker died Sunday, April 29, 2007, at Cornerstone Hospital in West Monroe, LA. He was born to Charles B. and Lois T. Walker on February 9, 1933 in West Monroe, LA. He was a graduate of Ouachita Parish High School and of Northeast Louisiana University with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. He began his career at 13 years of age as a carrier boy at the News Star World and worked there until his graduation from NLU. He served in the U. S. Army and Army Reserve and was discharged as Captain. He retired from Strauss Interests of Monroe. His hobbies were bowling, hunting, and fishing. He was a charter member of Southside United Methodist, now Lea Joyner Memorial United Methodist Church, where he served in many capacities. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Hale Walker; son, Stephen Dale Walker; daughter, Beverly Anne Duchesne; and grandson, Beau Chesney Duchesne; sisters, Lillian W. Nolan, and Evelyn W. Born in Monroe, LA, Mrs. Many lived in the Twin Cities all of her life. Her deep religious faith not only touched countless others across her lifetime, but also earned her the recognition of the Catholic Church. In 2002, the pope bestowed on Mrs. Many a papal blessing. "The Pontifical Honor of Pro-Eccesia et Pontifice." This award is given in recognition of extraordinary service to the church community and is the highest honor the church confers on a layperson. Throughout her life, Mrs. Many valued as her greatest accomplishments her roles as wife and mother. She modeled for her family a life of grace and unselfish love. Mrs. Williams went to be with the Lord on April 30, 2007 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Houston, Texas on December 10, 1945 to the union of Ed and Elaine Smith Brown who preceded her in death. Carolyn was an avid painter and gardner. She never met a stranger and was always ready to help a friend. Raised a Catholic, she later switched to non-denominational and rededicated her life to the Lord. She was a member of the Fish Net Non-Denomination Church of Eros. She is survived by her loving and caring husband of nine years: Roger Williams of Eros, her son: Beau Dunbar of Virginia, her step-sons: David Williams and his wife: Nicky of Olla, John Williams and his wife: Deanna of Olla, her step-daughters: Theresa Williams of Urania and Jeri Green of Walker, her sisters: Anna Lisenby and her husband: Gary of Kelly and Mary Beth Orr of Joaquin, Texas, her brother: Charles Brown of Columbia. Visitation will be at the church on Sunday evening, May 6, from 5:00PM-8:00PM. Mr. Adkins, a lifelong member of the Sardis community, was born January 27, 1922 and died May 4, 2007. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps, and during WWII served in the United States Coast Guard. He worked for many years for Thermatomic Carbon Company in Sterlington, and later for the state of Louisiana. Mr. Adkins was a member of the Sardis Baptist Church, and a member and supporter of the Sardis Hunting Club. Mr. Adkins is preceded in death by his wife of many years, Celestine Joiner Adkins. His survivors include two sons; Dean Adkins and wife Kay of Shreveport; Joe Adkins of Farmerville and special family friend Paula Clay of Monroe; two grandchildren; Phillip Adkins and wife Kim of Shreveport; Courtney Adkins and husband Ken Simpson of Austin, Tx; and one great-granddaughter, Caroline Adkins of Shreveport. ERNEST BACCARINI Gill First National Funeral Home Winnsboro, LA Funeral mass for Ernest "Bubba" Baccarini, 67, of Winnsboro will be held at 3:00PM Sunday, May 6, 2007 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Winnboro with Rev. Louis Sklar celebrating the mass. Dr. Harry Boyd will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in New Winnsboro Cemetery under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home of Winnsboro. "Bubba" was born on,June 22, 1939 in Winnsboro and passed from this life Thursday, May 3, 2007 in St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. He was a devoted Christian and member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was a graduate of Winnsboro High School, attended Tulane University and received his BA degree at Northeast Louisiana University, where he also received his Masters + 30. "Bubba" served for many years in the Franklin Parish School System as an educator and a coach. After he left the classrooms and coaching duties, he began to work in a supervisory capacity for the Franklin Parish School Board. After retiring from the professional education field, Mr. Baccarini worked at Franklin State Bank in Winnsboro as a highly valued employee. "Bubba" served his community and profession in many capacities. He worked in the professional organizations associated with education such as the LA School Supervisors Association. He was active in the Jaycee where his service merited the Jaycee of the year Award and other distinctions. "Bubba" was elected to the Franklin Parish Police Jury, serving in the Regional Jury Association as well as being a member of the Governor's Task Force For the Future. He served on the North Delta Regional Planning and Development District Board, and was active in volunteer work with the Junior Miss Program in Franklin Parish for over 15 years. More recently, "Bubba" helped coach the teams of a fledgling athletic program at Franklin Academy as a volunteer. He delighted in the hobby of cooking. He served many dishes of superb food to many appreciative recipients. He loved his family and friends and they loved him. "Bubba" never really retired. He just took some time off to rest. He leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Linda Baccarini, of Winnsboro; two sons, Jon Michael Baccarini, of Monroe, and Greg Baccarini of Mt. Vernon, NY; sister, Ernestine Funderburk, of Winnsboro; and nephew, J. Funderburk, of Baton Rouge; as well as many other relatives and many friends. Pallbearers will be J. H. "Jimbo" Colvin, J.W. JACK KEAHEY, JR. Riser Funeral Home Columbia, LA Jack Keahey passed away May 4, 2007 after a brave battle with cancer. He was 71. Visitation will be at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia, Sunday, May 6, from 2:00PM — 7:00PM. Services will be held at 10:00AM., Monday, May 7, 2007 from the First Baptist Church in Columbia with Sherman Jones and Bob McIlwain officiating. Interment will follow in Columbia Hill Cemetery. Jack was born August 24, 1935 to Jack Lynn Keahey and Rayma George Keahey in Tensas Parish. His father had come down the Mississippi River from Cairo, Illinois, to help build the Mississippi River levee. His mother's family had moved to Newellton from Yell County, Arkansas. Jack was preceded in death by his younger brother, Farrel, in 1994, and by his father, Jack, in 1995. Jack is survived by his mother, Rayma Keahey, of St. Joseph. Jack is survived by his wife, Marie Herring Keahey. They loved and respected each other for over fifty years, and made a great team. A man who loved to fly, Jack was late for his own wedding because he was flying his cousin's new airplane. Jack and Marie are very proud of their three children: Cash Keahey of Richardson, Texas; Drew Keahey and his wife: Becky of Columbia, Louisiana; and, Margo Keahey of Gallatin, Tennessee. Jack loved and was deeply loved by his five grandchildren: Jared Keahey, Zach Keahey, Jillian Keahey, Reed Keahey and Katherine Keahey Baber. Jack is also survived by his mother-in-law, Dixie, as well as brothers-in-law, LaVance and James, and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. Jack was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Vance Herring. Jack was a man of many roles: farmer, pilot, businessman, shipbuilder, welder, mechanic, preacher, Bible school teacher, public servant, leader and friend. He was a founding member of the Columbia Church of Christ. He began Keahey Flying Service in 1964, and it is still in operation today. He was a member of Louisiana Pesticide Advisory Committee, and a lifelong member of his profession's state and national organizations, serving as president of both the Louisiana Agricultural Aviation Association and the National Agricultural Aviation Association. He was a former member and president of the Caldwell Parish School Board, and was serving as President of the Tensas Basin Levee Board when he died. Even though he accomplished much in his life, he was respected and loved as much for whom he was as for what he did. He was a man of tremendous character and integrity. Dave Norris, mayor of West Monroe, in a recent personal letter to him called him "a fine, unselfish public servant—and those are not too common." His favorite Bible verse was Philippians 4:8: "Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things." Jack Keahey will be missed by many. Girod was born on Sept.20, 1921 at Hebert, La. and passed from this life on Sat. May 5, 2007 at his residence. Born to the union of the late Felix Isaiah & Beatrice Roy Girod , he was one of nine children. He was an employee of the United States Dept. of Agriculture and a farmer. He was an active member of the Bethany Baptist Church where he served as deacon and Sunday school teacher. Mr. Girod was a Sgt. in the United States Army during World War II. Howard Childs officiating, and assisted by the Rev. William Ray. Burial will follow at Little Creek Methodist Church Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Rayville, LA. Mr. Barmore, a lifelong resident of Archibald, LA, was born August 28, 1935 and passed away May 5,2007 at the Veterans Hospital in Shreveport, LA. He was a graduate of Mangham High School and during the Korean Conflict served in the U.S. Army. He was a retired farmer and truck driver. Harold was a avid hunter at his hunting camp on Filter Bend and loved fishing at his camp on Bayou Louie Rocks. Mr. Barmore is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Benton Barmore, Sr. and Inez Hill Barmore; his brother, Thomas Benton Barmore, Jr.; two sisters, Bena B. Ward and Frances B. Terry; and his beloved daughter Donna Sue Barmore. He leaves behind his wife, Brenda; daughter, Angela B. Kanehl and her husband,Rayburn of Savannah, GA; son Harold Chambers Barmore, Jr. of Monroe, LA; his sister, Maggie B. Mrs. Humphreys died peacefully on Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at Christus St. Joseph Nursing Home, where she resided following a debilitating stroke in December, 1998. She fought a long and courageous battle. She was born on December 31, 1926, the youngest child of Nanny Edwards Takewell and Jesse Jird Takewell who predeceased her. She was also preceded in death by her husband of forty-eight years Milford R. Humphreys (1993) and eight brothers and two sisters; most recently her beloved sister, Doris Hammond (2005). Marie was Baptized in 1938 at First Baptist Church of Swartz, Louisiana. In 1957 she became a founding member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of West Monroe where she remained active until her illness. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Steve Rugg, of Monroe; one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Janet Humphreys, of EI Dorado Hills, California; three granddaughters, Sherry Thornton of Birmingham, Alabama, Brandie Lynn Humphreys and Amy Marie Humphreys of EI Dorado Hills, California; two great granddaughters, Brooke Marie Thornton and Avery Lynn Thornton; one sister-in-law, Vestal Phelps; several nieces and nephews; one step grandson, Jeff Rugg. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Christus St. Joseph Home for eight years of special care and to Pat and Herb Hubbard for faithful weekly visits. STANLEY MESERVE MAXWELL Youngs Funeral Home Ferriday, LA Services celebrating the life of Stanley Meserve Maxwell were held Monday May 7, 2007, at 10:00AM at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Natchez. The Rev. Dr. Robert N. Cooper was the celebrant. Mr. Maxwell died May 5 at his home at Manilla Plantation on Lake St. John. He was born March 5, 1914. After graduation from Louisiana State University with a degree in forestry and business administration, he and his bride, Ann Jane Shaw of Bastrop lived for a long time in a log cabin on Manilla where he farmed Manilla and Canebrake Plantations. In his 93 years, Mr. Maxwell saw and reflected many events: He rode steamboats with his father Lyle Maxwell to New Orleans to market cotton. During the flood of 1927, he patrolled the levees on horseback. Mr. Maxwell was employed with International Paper Company the Woodland Division, and was a Farm Bureau agent for 20 years. Dedicated to preservation of wildlife and the environment, he served on the board of the Tensas-Concordia Soil Conservation District. Mr. Maxwell was a graduate of Waterproof High School and Marion Military Institute. While at LSU, he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity and the Tiger Band. He was a member of Grace Mission Episcopal Church of Waterproof. In a ceremony in the 1930's, Mr. Maxwell, his father Lyle, and brother John were awarded the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America, the only time in history of the organization that a father and two sons together attained this distinction. Survivors include his wife of 70 years, two daughters, Frances Maxwell Cox of Monroe, and Susan Shaw Maxwell of New Orleans; two grandchildren, Ann Jane Campbell Cox of Dallas and Gary Maxwell Cox and his wife Christy of Monroe; a niece Lillian Shaw Lowewnbaum of Austin; and nephews Edward Driscoll Shaw III of Monroe, John Halstead Maxwell of Tulsa, Barry Lyle Maxwell of Canebrake Plantation and Stephen Lucky Maxwell of Little Rock, AR. The family suggests planned memorials be made to the Boy Scouts of America, Grace Mission Episcopal Church or the American Cancer Society. Young's Funeral Home of Ferriday, directed the services.

REVEREND EDWARD WADE MIXON Southern Funeral Home Winnfield, LA Reverend Edward Wade Mixon, age 91, of Winnfield, passed away Monday, May 7, 2007 at his residence. He was a native of Calvin, Louisiana. Reverend Mixon is the son of the late Moses Leroy Mixon and the late Attie Lee Carson Mixon. He was also preceded in death by his wife: Abbie Perdue Mixon; a daughter Sandra Sue Mixon; three sisters Essie Irene Cloud, Estelle Spearman, and Myrtie James; and one brother Russell Carson Mixon. Reverend Mixon is survived by ten children: Ronald Edward Mixon, Donnie Wayne Mixon, David Earl Mixon, Nathanael Wade Mixon, John Marcus Mixon, James Eugene Mixon, Martha Mixon Massey, Joel Lee Mixon, Paul Dale Mixon, and Priscilla Mixon Fitzgerald; thirty three grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren; one brother Willard Carl Mixon; and one sister Maudie Lee James. Rev. Mixon was a hardworking father who spent his life here on earth devoted first and foremost to the work of the Lord as a minister of the Gospel in the Apostolic faith. He began preaching the Gospel in 1951 and continued until his passing as pastor of the Apostolic Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Joyce, Louisiana. After his devotion to the word of the Lord was his devotion to his wife of 54 years until her death in 1998 and to the ten children that they raised together. During World War II, he served in the U. S. Navy in the South Pacific. Funeral services for Rev. Mixon will be held 1:00PM Thursday at Sanders Chapel U.M.C. with Reverend Paul Massey officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 PM. until 9:00PM and on Thursday at the church from 12:00PM until 1:00PM. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
