Cambri Danielle McQuillin, four month old infant of Anna and Justin McQuillin, went home to be with the angels on Sunday, September 25, 2005. While she only shined for a short while, she will always be one of the brightest stars we've ever seen.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, October 1, 2005, at 10:00 AM at the Hasley Cemetery Pavillion in West Monroe, La. Cambri is survived by her parents, Anna and Justin McQuillin; sister, Darcy McQuillin; Grandparents, Tamra Craighead; Danny McQuillin; Mary and Chuck Finklea; Aunts and Uncles, Matthew McQuillin; Josh Brown; Candace and Chris McWilliams; and numerous other relatives.

T helma Bryant was born on October 21, 1927 and passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2005 in West Monroe. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Estelle Dickens; sister, Louise Franks; brothers, Ray, Leo, John and Earl Dickens.
Survivors include her daughter, Jan Alderman and husband, Adren of Rayville; son, Gordon "Scooter" Medlin and wife, Becky of Rayville; brother, Jesse Dickens and wife, Bonnie of Hermitage, AR; grandchildren, Michelle Alderman, Misty Alderman, Hope Descant and husband, Steve, Kristi Fontenot and husband, John, Courtney Fulmer and husband, Tim, Nathan Medlin and wife, Mallory; great grandchildren, Dakota Alderman, Zach, Emily, and Audrey Fontenot, Brant Fulmer.
Pallbearers will be Steve Descant, Tim Fulmer, John Fontenot, Rick Green, Bennye Love, Denny Love and alternate, Michael Hicks.

Mrs. Brazil was a resident of Avalon Nursing Home and died Friday September 30, 2005.
Mrs. Brazil was an Elder and faithful charter member of the Fairbanks, Grace and Graceminster Presbyterian Churches in Monroe, La. She retired from Cities Service.
Mrs. Brazil is survived by a host of friends.

Mrs. Bell was born in Jackson Parish, LA on March 17, 1918 to Homer and Eunice Burks. She married Willie Lee Bell and to this union was born one daughter. She worked many years at the Cascio family restaurants and retired from the Ramada Inn in Monroe, LA. She was a resident of the Oaks Nursing Home at the time of her passing.
Survivors include her daughter Willie B. Welch of Monroe, LA; granddaughter Joan D. Welch of Warwick, RI; brothers Robert Burks of Bay City, MI, Howard Burks of Lake Charles, LA and Marvin Burks of West Monroe, LA; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 2, 2005 from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Miller Funeral Home in Monroe.

Mr. English died Thursday, September 29, 2005, in the Tensas Care and Rehab Center in Newellton, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Eldorado, AR, and had lived in Tensas Parish for fifty-three years. Mr. English was a manager of Tensas Co-op Gin, and a member of the Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his wife Alene English.
Survivors include two daughters Jamie A. English of Newellton, LA and Leigh Anne Tisdale and husband, LaVaugn of West Monroe, LA; a grandchild Logan English of Newellton, LA; two brothers David Eli "Petey" English II of Horn Lake, MS and Richard Lee English of Newellton, LA; three sisters Carolyn Willard of Fayetteville, AR, Brenda Grimsley of Smithville, UT and Patricia Lynn Sadler of West Monroe, LA.
Active pallbearers will be Jimmy White, Wayne Neuroth, Britt Keahey, John Day, Clyde Ray Arnold and Darryl Vandeven.

Mr. Lawhorn was born on December 9, 1933 and passed away on September 30, 2005 after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Mary and Bill Lawhorn and three sisters: Christine Elliott, Dorothy Fletcher and Bonnie Foster.
He is survived by his wife: Jackie Lawhorn; daughter: Brenda Cannady and husband Joey; son: Tommy Lawhorn and wife Ginger; grandchildren: Jennifer Garsee and husband Tony, Jason Lawhorn, Craig Cannady, Candice Cannady and Scott Cannady; great grandchildren: Kearney and Trevor; special nieces: Sherri Vingiello and Debra Graves; and longtime canine companion, Duke.
He was retired from the Monroe Transit System and the Northern Louisiana Dialysis Center of Monroe. The family would like to send a "special thanks" to the nurses of Patient's Choice Hospice for their compassion and care.

Mr. Harris was born on October 10, 1927 and passed away on September 30, 2005 at Glenwood Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Harris retired after forty-four years as a machinist for James Machine Works, and served in the U. S. Army in the Japanese Theater, serving in the Honor Guard for Gen. Douglas McArthur, while with the 11 Airborne Div. during WW II. He was preceded in death by his parents: Cassell Danti and John David Harris, two brothers Otho Harris and Sephious Harris, a sister Lola Harris, and a grandchild Brandi Adams.
He is survived by his wife Hazel Harris; two children Jeanette Haydel and husband George of Coushatta, LA, and Bo Harris and wife Lynne of West Monroe; brothers Marion Harris and wife Ruby of Shreveport, Delmar Harris and wife Connie of Ark, Kenneth Harris and wife Loraine of Downsville, and Garland Harris of CA., sister Dorothy Gantt; grandchildren Cathy Cannon of Weatherford, TX, Timothy White and wife April of Waxahachie, TX, Angela Sifuentes of Weatherford TX, Jason Haydel of Arlington, TX, David A. Larry S. Butler, 57, of Shreveport, LA passed away on September 29, 2005 at the Overton Brooks VA Hospital after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Mt. Vernon, IL. Mr. Butler was a graduate of LSU and LSU Law School in Baton Rouge. He served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Butler was a practicing attorney in the Shreveport / Bossier City area for thirty years. Prior to his illness he had served as Judge in the State of Louisiana Workers Compensation Court.
He was a member of the Louisiana Bar and of the Moose Lodge. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is the son of Iva Railey Butler and the late Marcus B. Butler of Carthage, TX. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law Judy and Michael "Smokey" Smith; sister Cheri Jamison, all of Carthage, TX; brother and sister-in-law Marty and Robin Butler of Marietta, GA; nieces Beckie Childs and husband Larry Childs of Carthage, Courtney Jamison of Dallas, TX, Emily Butler of Marietta, GA; nephews Shane Jamison of Dallas, TX, Ethan Butler of Marietta, GA; great-niece Hannah Ransom and great-nephew John Michael Childs of Carthage, TX and a host of family and friends. Mrs. Wright was preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Major.

Mrs. Ross held many jobs in her lifetime but above all she was a homemaker. She worked side by side with her husband to build a home where her children would feel safe and secure. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and tried to teach her children old-time values and to have a sense of pride. She tried to instill the joy of experiencing life with humor and adventure and to build confidence in each child as she taught by sharing and example.
Mrs. Ross spent most of her life in the Delhi area where she was a member of Midway Baptist Church of Waverly and was well known in the community as an honest, hard-working farmer's wife. She was an extremely creative person and passed this on to her children by showing them the joy and pride she received from a job well done. She loved all God's creatures, especially cows, cats and birds. She enjoyed reciting poetry and her hobbies were reading, sewing, quilting, flowers and preparing and giving Christmas gifts.
She is preceded in death by her husband James D. Ross; parents Joseph A. Chapman and Beatrice Fife Mangum; step-father James L. Mangum; and her brothers: Alford Chapman, Max Mangum and Charles L. Mangum.
She is survived by her children: one son: Alton Ross (Dalene) of Red Rock, TX; five daughters: Shelby Cook (Charles) of Delhi, Shirley Cassel of Delhi, Dixie Anderson (William) of Covington, LA, Linda Murphy (Robert) of Montgomery, AL and Joyce Young (Gary) of Port Gibson, MS. Thirteen grandchildren: Kimberly Lum, Mark Cook, Gregory Cook, Scott Cook, Susan Williams, Toney Cassel, Shannon Cassel, James Earl Ross, Ross Williamson, Leslie Anderson, Charlynn Murphy, Anthony Murphy, Joseph Murphy; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until time of service at Mulhearn Funeral Home in Rayville.

Bud went to be with the Lord on September 29, 2005 following a lengthy illness. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Florence Hailey as well as two sisters, Faye Johnson and Belle Olmstead and a brother, Phillip Hailey.
He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Hailey; daughters, Marilyn Stoltz and Sherry Helms; along with two son-in-laws, Scott Stoltz and Branden Helms. He is also the loving papaw of Hailey, Brittney and Zachary Odell, Hayden Helms and future grandson Holtz Denver Helms; and also survived by his sisters, Mickey Fry, Sharon Arrnold, June Jacobson, Linda Enlow, Phyllis Isler, Beverly Ray.
Bud was a proud and loving grandfather, Deacon at Claiborne Assembly of God, Long Standing Community Businessman and Dedicated Braves Fan.
Bud touched the lives of so many. Through an unyielding devotion to God and an unconditional love of family and friends, he found great joy and fulfillment. Because he felt so richly blessed he opened his heart and his home to all who knew him. Jesus first, Others second, and Yourself last." He lived by this every day, living each day to the fullest extent — and all of our lives have been enriched and blessed for having known and loved him.

Mr. Blackard, who died Sunday, October 2, 2005, at Bethany House, was born August 13, 1914 in Valliant, OK.
Mr. Blackard was a longtime resident of Bastrop, LA having moved there after serving his country in the U. S. Army during WWII. He retired from Mississippi River Fuel Gas Company in 1979 (Union Pacific) after thirty-three years. He also enjoyed his farm and raised cattle. He was a longtime and active member of First Baptist Church in Bastrop, LA. He and his wife moved to Auburn, AL in 2003 to live at Azalea Place.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years Eddie J. Blackard of Auburn, AL; daughter Linda Blackard Warren of Opelika, AL; granddaughter Lisa Warren and husband Mark DeGrange of Columbus, MS; grandson David and wife Joy Warren of Birmingham,AL; four great grandchildren Thomas and Hanna DeGrange and Will and Jack Warren; sister Eunice Raiford of Valliant, OK; five brothers Frank Blackard, Drew Mac Blackard, Odell Blackard all of Valliant, OK, Sammie Blackard and Otis Blackard both of Baton Rouge, LA and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Addie Blackard; sisters Eddie Mae Shuler, Gaye Smith and Faye Nichols and a brother Jeff Blackard.

Sister Sims was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tabitha Evangeline Sims and her seven siblings: E.C. Allen, William A. Allen, Ottice Henry, Alice Polk, Audrey Comeaux, Lessie White, and Annie Ruth Rider.
Mrs. Sims is survived by her husband of fifty-eight and a half years: Rev. Jimmie P. Mrs. Caples went to be with the Lord on October 3, 2005 at her residence. She worked at Glenwood Regional Medical Center for eighteen years. After retirement she was a loving caregiver. Her family and her church were her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred N. Caples; son, Harold Caples; parents, Lucy and Bill Risher; brother, Doug Risher and sister, Elaine Bennett.
Survivors include her two sons, Tommy Caples and wife Janice and James Caples and wife Donna; daughters, Peggy Allen and husband Wayne, Judy Gregg and husband Richard, Jr., Debra Caples, Hazel Gordon and husband Mark and Louise Hite; seventeen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Vallie Monette Davis, 87 of the Lockhart Community east of Junction City, AR died Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at her residence following a brief illness.
Born January 9, 1918 in the Canaan Community of Union County, AR, she was the daughter of Tom and Lena Upshaw Burnside. Mrs. Davis, with her husband, was a cattle and poultry farmer and loved gardening and cooking. She was a member of the Lockhart Church of Christ.
Preceding her in death were her husband of sixty-one years, Clarence P. Davis, two brothers, Prentice Burnside and Richmon Burnside and a sister Diamond Smith.
Survivors include three daughters, Christine Butterworth and Paula Davis both of the Lockhart, LA community, and Carolyn Hardin and her husband B. J. of Athens, TX, and one sister, Robbie Smith of Minden, LA. There are three grandchildren, Edwin Butterworth and his wife Karen, Lori Viner and her husband, Davis Butterworth and Madison Butterworth both of Benton, AR. Mrs. Hogan died on October 2, 2005 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, LA. She was a faithful member to her Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church Swartz, LA. Mrs. Hogan was the owner and operator of Hogan's Hi-Nabor Grocery Store for many years. She loved to travel, but her true love was her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be a great loss to her family. Mrs. Hogan is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence E. Hogan, parents, William Marshal and Leona McAdams, her sister, Elva Jenny Hester, and son-in-law Don Copes, Sr.

HERBERT HOOVER MILLER

Herbert Hoover Miller, affectionally known as "Bud" was born on February 15, 1918. He was the fifth of eight children born to the union of the late Rev. Samuel Edgar Miller and the late Mrs. Louthene Bridges Miller.
He accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age, and joined New Light Baptist Church which his father founded. He later united with Greater Magnolia Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. E. E. Hollins. Years later, he was crowned as deacon under the leadership of the late Rev. Louie Wroten. He served faithfully until his health declined.
Bud began his education in the Beekman community where he was born and raised. He later graduated from Morehouse Parish Training School.
During World War II, Herbert was drafted into the United States Army. He fought on the front lines of the Italian Theater with the 371st Infantry, 92nd Division. More than three quarters of Herbert's division was killed in action, but God brought him safely home. Herbert was honorably discharged November 7, 1945. Upon his return to the states, he resumed his career with International Paper Co., Single Service Division (Liquid Packaging). Because of declining health, he left the paper mill after more than thirty years of service.
On October 25, 1953, Herbert united in holy matrimony with Clara Belle Robinson. Two children were born to this union: Marion Gail and Sandra Denise.
Herbert had numerous years of declining health, but he never complained. He continued to have a smile and a kind word for those around him. God saw Herbert was weary and sent his angels to North Monroe Medical Center-ICU to rescue him on September 29, 2005, at 11:45 PM.
Herbert was preceded in death by five of his siblings: Alexander, Doris, Samuel Jr., Francis, and Eloise. He leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife, Clara; children, Marion and Sandra; one sister, Mrs. Louia Miller Cohee of Oakland, CA; one brother, Sgt. Harold Miller and wife Hideko of Oakland, CA; two other sisters-in-law, Mrs. Laura R. King and Mrs. Catherine R. Rogers of Stockton, CA; one brother-in-law, Mr. Morgan Robinson of Bastrop, LA. He also leaves other other relatives, friends, and a very loving church family.
Visitation will be Friday at Loche's Mortuary in Bastrop from 5:00 until 7:00 PM. The funeral will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 8, 2005 at Greater Magnolia Missionary Baptist Church in Bastrop, LA. His body will be laid to rest in the Henry V. Adams Cemetery in Bastrop, LA.

Chuck died September 30, 2005. He attended school at Georgia Tech, University of Georgia in Auburn, and ULM. He served in the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his father, John Manuel Castro and grandparents, Benigno and Louisa Castro, and Ralph and Margaret Cadle.

Marion is preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. Marion was a devoted wife and is survived by her loving husband Daniel Wallace Doherty. A wonderful mother, Marion left four children, Daniel Wallace Doherty, Jr., George Francis Doherty, Diane Aloysia Young, and Marion Mathilde Broussard. Nineteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren will forever cherish the memories of their precious and treasured grandmother.
Laughter was never far from Marion's presence as her glowing smile and sparkling eyes livened any room and every moment. She was co-owner of McMillon Air Conditioning for over forty years where during that time she built a strong bond of trust and respect with her customers. They always knew when they called "Mrs. Mac" that she would "take care of it".
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her son Danny McMillon and wife Tracey; granddaughter Victoria; sisters Sue Drost and husband Wendell and Ginger Hilburn and husband Larry; brother Clarence "Pete" Caples and wife Lynn; sister-in-law Ann Caples; step-granddaughters Chesney and Elainey; and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Mr. Bradberry was born on April 30, 1928 in Epps, LA. He died Thursday at his home in Hebert after a lengthy illness. He was a retired Geotechnical Engineer who enjoyed a successful career as an entrepreneur, inventor, and teacher. Most importantly, he was a dedicated Christian husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was preceded in death by his wife Georgie Thomason Bradberry; his daughter Anita Ruth Bradberry Strickland and his grandson Jared Hollis Strickland.
Survivors include two sisters-in-law Fannie L. Dent and Helen D. Roy; her brother-in-law Raymond Roy all of Hebert; son-in-law Hollis Strickland and his wife Donna of West Monroe; his grandchildren Lea Ann Reynolds and her husband: Randy, Joel H. Strickland and his wife: Liz, Elizabeth Glass and her husband: Todd all of West Monroe and Amy Brooks and her husband: Lance of Calhoun and seven great-grandchildren.

He was a retired banker. He was a graduate of Ruston High School and attended La. Tech University in Ruston. He was a Naval Reservist during the Korean Conflict and a member of the Old Bethel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother: Shelby D. Cruse.
Survivors include his wife of fifty years: Rachel Dunn Cruse of Grayson; his son and daughter-in-law: Michael Duane and Anna Cruse of Simpsonville, S.C.; his daughters and sons-in-law: Diane and Ricky Claunch of West Monroe and Sharon and John C. Franklin of Sterlington; his grandchildren: Kelly Claunch Benson, Chris Claunch, Emily Franklin Stewart, Ashley Franklin Bradley, Caleb Franklin, Brandon Cruse, Austin Cruse and Taylor Cruse; his great-granddaughter: Marley Kay Bryant and several sisters-in-law.

Patricia Turner Petrus passed away Friday, September 30, 2005, in Chattanooga, TN. Born on January 11, 1938, in West Monroe, LA, Patricia was the daughter of the late Earl Madison and Gwendolyn Wood Turner.
She was a graduate of West Monroe High School and Northeast Louisiana University. While living in Monroe, LA, she was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, The Fort Miro Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, The Monroe Garden Club, The Potpourri Book Club, The Grand Destination Travel Club and the AOTT Alumni Association. In 2000 Patricia and her husband Richard moved to Jackson to be near their children and grandchildren. In Jackson she was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, Great Books, Welcome Neighbor, Hodge-Podge and The Antique Club.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jack Hart Hover and Richard August Petrus.
She is survived by her daughters, Jacquelyn Petrus and Leslie Petrus Kennedy and son-in-law, Warren Kennedy; grandchildren, Scott and Julia Kennedy, all of Jackson, MS; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Susan Turner and John W. Johnson III, Kay Turner and Robert D. Cazenave, all of Chattanooga, TN. Also, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Salley Hover Smith of Shaker Heights, OH; Frank W. and Flora C. Hover of Ruston, LA; Charles A. and Dollie S. Petrus of Monroe, LA; and Mary Virginia S. Petrus of West Monroe, LA and several nieces and nephews.

Joyce Lynn Hennigan was born on December 12, 1947 to the union of her parents Leon {Bud} and Modean Hennigan. She was preceded in death by her father and by a sister Ollie Hennigan.
She is survived by her husband Mr. Horace Lee Lafferty; a daughter Mrs. Sherry Lafferty of Grayson, LA; three sons Ronnie and wife Gena Lafferty of Grayson, LA; Charles and wife Carol Lafferty of Columbia, LA; and Tim Lafferty of Grayson, LA; mother Modean Hennigan of Columbia; three sisters Carol Mills of Columbia, LA; Shirley Word of Kelly, LA; and Melba Walker of Columbia, LA; five grandchildren Derrick, Ashlee, Kirstie, Kayla, and Morgan Lafferty. Step grand-children include Aaron Harvey, Nathon and Dillon Traweek. Special neices Lisa Mixon and Darla Volentine also several other neices and nephews.

Queen Provosty, of Alexandria, died October 7, 2005, in Slidell, LA after a brief illness.
Queen was born on January 20, 1907, in Arcadia, Louisiana, the daughter of William P. Baskerville and Mary Eva Van Hoozer. She graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a Master of Music degree and became the regional secondary school superintendent of music in Central Louisiana. In 1929, she married LeDoux Roger Provosty, Sr. and was a resident of Alexandria for seventy-three years. She was a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church and St. Rita Catholic Church, the Service League, the Society of Colonial Dames, and the Twelfth Night carnival organization. During World War II, she served as a volunteer Grey Lady.
Mrs. Provosty was preceded in death by her husband, infant twin daughters, two sons, LeDoux R. Provosty, Jr. and Rev. William B. Provosty.
She is survived by: three daughters; Miriam P. Fritchie of Slidell, LA; Mary Adele P. Baus and her husband, John of New Orleans, LA; Jeanne P. Buffat and her husband Bill of Abita Springs; three Sons: L. Maurice Provosty of Pearl River, LA; Albin A. Provosty and his wife Susan of Alexandria, LA; J. Van Provosty and his wife Denise, of Atlanta, GA; one daughter-in-Law; Barbara S. Provosty of Alexandria, LA.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ina Mae Duncan, 84, of Vicksburg, MS will be held at 2:00PM, Monday, October 10, 2005 at Lamar Baptist Church south of Delhi, LA. Rev. Pat Lofton will officiate. Interment will be in the Delhi Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Delhi.

Mrs. Duncan died Saturday at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg following a brief illness. She was a longtime resident of the Central Community in Franklin Parish, LA until ill health forced her moving to Vicksburg to be near family. She is preceded in death by the father of her children Ross Sidney McHenry and her second husband, Amos Duncan and by her parents, Charles Marshall Bullock and Mary Lola Lane Bullock.

Wayne died October 3 at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C. after becoming ill while in Iraq with a rare genetic disorder. Wayne was originally from West Monroe and Sterlington, where he graduated from Sterlington High School then attended ULM and served with the Louisiana National Guard. Wayne had made his home in Denver since 2000, attending the Denver Police Academy in 2001, then was called to active duty to serve in Iraq in October 2004 with 467th Company C. He loved mountain activities such as skiing, hiking, biking and Jeeping.
Sgt. Pankey was preceded in death by his father, Larry Wayne Pankey.
Survivors of Sgt. Pankey include his wife, Brandy Harwell Pankey and daughter Larra Pankey of Denver; mother, Shirley Pankey of West Monroe; sisters Dawn Simpson and Starr Pankey; brothers, Terry Pankey and BJ Pankey and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Terry Pankey, BJ Pankey, Derek Mardis, Trey Decker, Dale Jacobsen, and Anthony Chisholm.
Full police honors will be held by Denver Police Department and military honors by the U.S. Army at graveside.

MISS ELEONA BRINSMADE

Services for Miss Eleona Brinsmade, 94, of Monroe, will be at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, October 11, 2005, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Terry Love officiating. Interment will be in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Miss Brinsmade was born March 20, 1911, to Mary Carolyn Rea Brinsmade and Herman Hine Brinsmade in Newark, New Jersey. She was an educator for the Monroe City Schools for 40 years. After teaching for many years, she became the Supervisor of Child Welfare and Attendance. After retirement she taught GED classes for senior citizens for the West Ouachita Senior Center. She also taught English as a second language to Vietnamese and Chinese-Americans. She loved music, drama, and the arts. She attended concerts faithfully, usually providing transportation for her lady friends.
Miss Brinsmade was a member of First United Methodist Church where she sang in the Chancel Choir and served as a Sunday school teacher, Alpha Nu Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma where she was the first president, Monroe City Teachers Association, Fine Arts Club, Women's Society of Christian Service, Warner-Wossman Sunday School Class, Fort Miro Daughters of the American Revolution, and Monroe Garden Club.
Miss Brinsmade had a number of cousins including Ned Randall of Pittsburg, PA.
Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time Tuesday at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.

KERRY ALISON HECK
A United States Border Patrol Memorial Service was held on September 23, 2005 in Artesia, New Mexico in memory of Kerry Alison Heck who died in a motorcycle accident on September 18, 2005, enjoying life to the fullest.
Kerry was born January 14, 1971 and is survived by parents Berlin and Patricia Graham Heck, Jr. from Broken Bow, Oklahoma (originally from Calhoun and Monroe), a sister, Greta Heck of McAllen, Texas and a brother Bucky (Berlin III) and his wife Kim Heck and one nephew, Gage (Berlin IV) Heck of Wright City, Oklahoma. Kerry's aunts and uncles are: Addison Paul and Dee Graham of Baton Rouge; Charles Heck, Don and Elizabeth Yielding, and Kay Shipp of Monroe; Mary Ida Kay of Port Aransas, Texas; and William Heck of Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She also is survived by twenty first cousins and their husbands, wives and children.
After her graduation from college, Kerry worked for the state of Oklahoma and then became a U.S. Border Patrol Special Agent. She was stationed at Douglas, Arizona where she was promoted to Senior Border Patrol Agent, and later in Marathon, Florida where she was promoted to Supervisory Border Patrol Agent. She recently moved to Roswell, New Mexico to become an instructor at the U.S. Border Patrol Academy in Artesia, New Mexico.
Kerry was a lovely young woman with an outgoing personality and a tremendous zest for life. She always made many friends wherever she went and these friendships were maintained even when she moved to other areas. She loved her dogs, Fred and Willie, who now reside in Oklahoma.

He is survived by his son Steve Ford and wife Rosemary of West Monroe, LA; two daughters, Donita Wilson and husband Al of Tulsa, OK, Barbara Lynn Johnson and husband Darrell of Lubbock, TX; sister Gearlene Andrews of Olla, LA; grandchildren Brad Wilson, Beth and Michael Carter, Loree and Brent Butler, Andy Johnson, Kelly and Joel Ruark, Maribeth Ford and great-grandchildren Steve Wilson, Kaytelynn Wilson, Christopher Butler, and Rachel Butler.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Rush, Harry Davis, Tom Clark, Mike May, Brad Wilson, and Andy Johnson.

EMMETT BAILEY GRANT

E. Bailey Grant, 89, of Pearland, Texas died in a Houston hospital Wednesday, October 5, 2005 following a brief illness. He was a member of a prominent and well known pioneer family in northeast Louisiana. He was a native of West Monroe, Louisiana.
Mr. Grant moved to Pearland several years ago after his retirement as Sheriff of Ouachita Parish, a position that he held for more than thirty-two years after choosing not to seek a ninth four year term in office. For several years following his retirement, Mr. Grant served as Secretary Treasurer and Administrator of the Louisiana Sheriff's Association Pension Fund.
During his tenure in office, Mr. Grant distinguished himself as a dedicated leader in law enforcement in his native Ouachita Parish while enjoying an outstanding statewide reputation as a gentleman of superior integrity and Christian character. He served several terms as Chairman of the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice.
As a civic leader, he received numerous awards as a supporter of several Boys Clubs and The United Fund. Along with many other community service citations, he was particularly honored as a recipient of the Louisiana Jaycees Outstanding Young Man of the Year and the Monroe Chamber of Commerce's David Silverstein Awards.
Before W.W.II where Mr. Grant served as a Cargo Security officer in the Pacific, Mr. Grant was a Deputy United States Marshall and returned to that position following his honorable discharge from the Army. When elected Sheriff, he took pride in serving in the same jurisdiction as his father who was also Sheriff years earlier.
Many of his contemporaries, especially other public officials who knew him well, often referred to him as "the best Sheriff in Louisiana," based on a record of superior contributions to law enforcement, his leadership abilities, excellent people skills and his dedication to public trust.
Sheriff Grant is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-eight years, Dorothy Elizabeth Breese Grant of Pearland, Texas; his sister, Gladys Grant Bell of Shreveport, Louisiana; his daughter, Bennie Breese Grant Hall and son-in-law, The Reverend Dr. Laurens Allen Hall of Houston, Texas; grandson Grant Allen Hall and wife Allison Quayle Hall and children, William Quayle Hall and Daisy Grace Hall of Houston, Texas; grandson, Oliver Wilton Hall of Austin, Texas; and granddaughter, Bailey Elizabeth Hall Kinney and husband Benjamin Kane Kinney and children, Kane Elizabeth Kinney and Trotter Hall Kinney of Houston, Texas. He was proud to be uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.
The family is invited to attend a graveside service at Riverview Cemetery on South Grand at 2:00 PM, Friday, October 14, 2005. An open Memorial Service will follow at 3:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church of Monroe with The Reverend Allison Moody and The Reverend Dr. Laurens Allen Hall officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA. The family invites all to a reception at the Church immediately following the Memorial Service.

Mrs. Cobb died Monday at the Richland Parish Hospital in Delhi.
She was Valedictorian of the final 11th grade graduating class of Delhi High School and was a long time member of the Newton Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband Lonnie Coleman Hosea; her parents William Cobb and Letha Mae Rushing Cobb; two sons Clyde M. and Lonnie Shelton Hosea; three grandchildren Ronnie Hosea and Kaye and Angela Donaldson; a great grandson Jacob Hosea; a brother James Mitchell Cobb; and two sisters, Ada Erwin and Ruby Barnes.
She is survived by seven children: Sonny Hosea and wife Frances of Delhi, LA, Thomas "Tombo" Hosea and wife Carolyn of Clarksville, TN, Howard R. Hosea and wife Diane of Monroe, LA, Robert E. and wife Rosemary of Olla, LA, Lorraine Hosea House and husband Doug of Delhi, LA, Shirley Hosea Reece and husband Robby of Meredian, MS, and Sharon Hosea Dendy and husband Woody of Bernice, LA; one sister Lizzie French of Natchez, MS and one hundred and thirty six grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her sons and sons-in-law.

Services for Mr. Foy Louis Wooten, 55, of Winnsboro will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, October 13, 2005, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home Winnsboro with Dr. Bill Robertson and Chris McHenry officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Mr. Wooten died on Saturday, October 8, 2005, at the VA Medical Center in Shreveport, LA. He spent over twenty-two years in the U.S. Air Force and served in the Korean Conflict.
