San Antonio - July 2001

Our 35th wedding anniversary was June 26, 2001. However, since we were in the middle of putting the finishing touches on the 35th OPHS Class of 1966 reunion we postponed it until the following weekend and went to San Antonio. I had never been to San Antonio although Jerry had been there on company business. The trip was very nice and it was not too hot. We went shopping and walked the River Walk. We ate at Dick's Place and stayed at the Emily Morgan Motel downtown. The trip from Monroe, Louisiana to San Antonio, Texas and back is longer than expected, but now I can say I have been there and I enjoyed it very much.

Eating at The Original Mexican Restaurant on the River Walk, the only place we found hot tamales and they were on the appetizer menu. They were great with the chili salsa on the side.

We did not visit this saloon/restaurant, but it reminded us of New Orleans.

This group was wonderful and I wish I could remember their name. The music they performed was beautiful.
