A lifelong hunter and fisherman, Mr. Ballard served in the U. S. Navy and was a graduate of Texas A & M University with degrees in both Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. There, he served as Commandant of the Corps. He was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church and the University Club in Memphis, TN. In Monroe, LA he was President of the Y's Men's Club, memeber of Bayou Desiard County Club, charter member of St. Paul's Methodist Church. In Shreveport, LA Mr. Ballard was involved in various civic and business organizations and was a former president of Pierremont Oaks Country Club.

Mr. Ballard, husband of Patricia Skipwith Ballard, leaves daughters Mary Katherine Ballard Rawlins and husband Erle Rawlins of Dallas, Texas; Jill Ballard Wallace and husband Jon Wallace of Memphis, TN; stepson Stoughton Outlan and wife Annette of Memphis, TN; stepdaughter Sallie Outlan Baskette of Memphis, TN; sister, Angie Ballard Skelton, of Jackson, Mississippi; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Alice McGraw Ballard and William Dudley Ballard, Sr., of Marthaville, LA; sister, Polly Ballard Harris, brothers W. D. Ballard of Monroe and Basil G. Ballard of Natchez, MS.

A loving husband, father, stepfather and generous friend, Mr. Ballard will be dearly remembered and greatly missed.
