My sister, Shirley Carpenter, says that "bitterness is long held resentment." At one
time or another every sailor has faced this dangereous enemy. If allowed to go on
unchecked it can pollute your water supply and jeopardize your safety and the health
of your crew. It's a very dangerous malady that can and should be dealt with. Here
are some lessons that will help you diagnose and deal with this sailor's nightmare.
What is forgiveness?
Is forgiveness a once and for all act or a process? In this lesson we will seek to answer this and other quesitons concerning forgiveness.
When do we forgive?
Is forgiveness conditional? Does God forgive us before we repent? If I do not ask God for forgiveness, will He forgive me anyway? Must the offender ask me for forgiveness before I can forgive him? The reader will be guided through a study in which he/she will answer these and other questions concerning the "when" of forgiveness.
How do we forgive?
If forgiveness is a must and not an option, how do we forgive? How do we forgive those who have crushed our hearts? How do we forgive those who have brutally violated our lives? There are situations which reveal that forgiveness requires something more than sentiment and natural affection.
