This is me.
Although I go by Jim, my full name is actually James C. Hilton, Jr. I attended A. E. Phillips Laboratory School and Glen View Junior High School (back then, you may have known me as "Jimmy"), and graduated from Ruston High School in 1972. I then attended Louisiana Tech University for a year following high school. It was during that year at La. Tech that I began working at the Ruston Police Department. Somewhere in there I got the bright idea that I didn't need to go to college to be a cop, so I quit school and went to work full time. Quitting school was a stupid thing to do! But you couldn't have told me that back then. I knew all I would ever need to know - or so I thought.
I was born right here in my home town of Ruston, Louisiana, and have lived here all my life. My father was J. C. Hilton, Sr., and my mother was Myrtle Wright Hilton. Dad worked for the U. S. Post Office, and Mom worked for the Ruston Daily Leader, our local newspaper. I had no brothers and sisters, but then I sorta liked it that way.
I am married to the former Deborah Ann Thornton. Deb is originally from Minden, Louisiana. She is a Registered Nurse and the Director of Nurses at the Bienville Medical Center in Arcadia, La. Prior to the Bienville Medical Center, she was the DON at the Louisiana Extended Care Hospital in Arcadia, and before that, she worked in the Emergency Room of Lincoln General Hospital here in Ruston. Altogether, we have a total of seven children. I have two sons, Jay and Brian. Jay is employed full time with the Louisiana National Guard here in Ruston. Brian works in the IT Department for the Lincoln Parish Police Jury and is married to Courtney Anderson from Quitman, Louisiana. Courtney works for Grambling State University in the accounting department. Deb has a son and a daughter, Gabrielle and Jason Storey. Gabrielle lives in Shreveport and works at the El Dorado Casino, and Jason is here in Ruston and works for Haynes International in Arcadia. We also have three children who are still living at home - Frank, Flash and Gladys. They are in a class all by themselves. And then there's the newest member of our family - Bronwyn. She's really special!!
