Who can stay?
Seriously ill or injured children who are under the age of 19 years who are receiving treatment at a Northeast Louisiana area hospital, and their immediate family may be referred to Ronald McDonald House of Northeast Louisiana. The child must have a permanent address at least 35 miles from Monroe. A referral must be made by a social worker at the facility where the child is being treated or a Medicaid (Medical Transportation) worker. All adults staying in the house must have current photo identification.
How much does it cost?
The Ronald McDonald House of Northeast Louisiana requests a donation of $10 per night per room. This includes lodging, meals, laundry facilities, and other services. If this presents a hardship for a family, arrangements can be made with the House Manager.
How to apply?
The initial referral must be made by a social worker where the child is being treated in Northeast Louisiana, or a Medicaid (Medical Transportation) worker. With the exception of Medicaid, we cannot guarantee placement until the day of need. Returning families may put their name on our waiting list and call to verify availability the day placement is needed. The Ronald McDonald House reserves the right to verify appointments with the medical service provider.
What facilities are available?
The House contains 17 attractive and comfortable bedrooms, a bright and cheerful kitchen and dining area, a large family room with a fireplace, a small-children's area, laundry facilities, an exercise room, and a quiet lounge. Like many homes, there are places for people to gather, get to know each other, and share good news and concerns. There are also places to be alone, to read a book, or watch television. A full-time house manager is in residence to operate the House and provide assistance to families. Day-to-day housekeeping tasks are shared by guests and volunteers. |
