Starting Optimization

Once your subscribers install the Bytemobile Optimization Client, there is no action required on

their part to start optimization. Depending on whther subscriber authentication (Authorization)

is enabled or disabled, the following occurs:

Starting Optimization with Authorization Disabled:

This is applicable to both the inline and non-inline mode (which does not support subscriber

authentication) and non-inline mode because it is disabled. The Bytemobile Optimization will

automatically seek to start optimization and will display the status and results in the system

tray menu. This automatic behavior occurs provided the following are in place:

You have not modified the default Start optimization automatically option in the

Bytemobile Optimization Client dialog box.

And,

A Bytemobile OSN is available on the network connection. This can be a dial-up, a Local

Area Networking (LAN) connection, or a Wide Area Networking (WAN) connection.

Starting Optimization with Authorization Enabled:

This only applies to the non-inline mode with user authorization enabled. In this situation, the

subscriber is prompted to provide ID and password data to the OSN for authentication

purposes and start optimization.

Displaying Status

During the startup process, the Bytemobile Optimization Client performs the following and

displays the outcome via the Bytemobile icon in the system tray:

1 Displays a red Bytemobile icon indicating the application is

running, but optimization is not enabled and searches for an

available networking connection.

2 Connects to the default Bytemobile OSN and displays a

changing (pulsing) red icon while trying to establish

connection.

3 Establishes connection with the Bytemobile OSN, starts

optimization, and displays a green icon as soon as it starts
